Lebanese Lebanese Pumpkin Poached in Syrup Recipe

Serves about 5.


  • 1 lb sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 6 cloves
  • 2.25 lbs peeled and deseeded pumpkin, cubed

Boil sugar and water until sugar has dissolved, stirring continuously, about 3 minutes.  Reduce heat and stir in juice and cloves.  Add pumpkin to pan and bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and put lid on pan, poaching pumpkin gently for about 1 hour.  Let cool in pan then serve.
